An update

January 25, 2014

This is a brief update on my progress.

Since the last post I have:

  • Added the dam on the river
  • Widened the Concepcion Acequia to 6m (20 ft)
  • Sketched in the Commerce St. footbridge
  • Realigned the river to correspond to the Sanborn maps
  • Added the Upper Labore acequias
  • Added a ditch the toe west of the compound
  • Added a water material
  • Added an accurate representation of the azimuth and angle of the sun in San Antonio on a given date
  • Worked on the background sky

Here is a new test render for the bird’s eye view.

Finished with the ground mesh

January 8, 2014

I have finished reworking the ground mesh for now.  The result is truer to the topography of Bexar (San Antonio) in 1836.  The area is larger, the river and acequia’s are more accurate and I added new features like the dam.  Here is a test render of the bird’s eye view similar to the overview in George Nelson’s book.  There are no textures and the buildings have not been accurately placed yet.
